Simple enough though, all versions use very similar hardware and are separated by what seems to be almost entirely software features getting more the more you pay.
HOW TO USE SPYDER 4 ELITE PRO
There are three versions, the Pro being the middle option. I chose the pro because I needed multi-monitor calibration which the cheaper version does not have, and I didn't need the "elite" version for all of it's high customization.
After much research, I decided to go with the Datacolor Spyder 4 Pro device. I had spent some time calibrating my ASUS IPS monitors with the popular AVS HD 709 calibration, and while I had gotten some good results, I knew they weren't perfect. This is why I decided it was time to calibrate my monitors with a hardware device.

If you take a portrait of a person and the skin tones have a color cast, almost anyone will notice it.
If you take a nice landscape shot and the colors are a bit off, most people won't think much of it. As I am starting to do more portrait work, color becomes increasingly important.
